2010 "Featured Arist" for Visual Overture Magazine

Look for the upcoming May issue of Visual Overture Magazine on stands soon!

I was delighted to be selected by Juror Kathy Stockman from nearly 200 artists as one of the seven "Featured Artists" of 2010.

The 2010 issue also features work by other talented artist such as Virginia Saunders, David Purcell, Aaron Morgan Brown, Joomi Chung, Leah Cooper, and David Lindsay.

Paintings featured in promotion of Documentary Film

A few months ago I got an exciting email from a well respected Documentary film maker Robin Lung.  It turns out she is doing her next film on a story featuring my grandfather (Rey Scott)  and his travel partner Li Ling Ai.  Both oh whom, I just so happened to have done individual mixed media paintings of.

She asked to feature some of my artwork as part of the promotion of the upcoming film on facebook and eventually a website.  I was thrilled! Here are some of the graphics for now. 

 

Robin and I have been keeping in touch frequently, and there is a possibility we might be able to do something together with more art featuring my grandfathers photos and her film.  It has truly been a long term goal of mine to somehow bring his film "Kukan" and stunning photography back to life.  No surprise these projects, take a lot of patience and determination and I have no doubt Robin is going to make a great film. I can't wait to see how it all comes together!

"In 1937 Li Ling-Ai, a Chinese American playwright from Hawaii knew nothing about making movies. Rey Scott, an adventurous photojournalist from the Midwest, had never held a motion picture camera in his hands. They had no Hollywood backing and no U.S. governmental support.
