WESTTown Mural Starting- Chicago/Lessing

I was delighted when I found out my proposal was accepted for one of the six spaces for the murals in West Town.  The project is Phase Two of a beautification project for SSA#29 district in Chicago on unifying subject matter: “Scenes of Chicago Avenue.” It is across the street from the first set of murals completed in 2008.  It is located at viaduct, 800 N. Lessing St. with average sized space of 10' h x 30'.

PHASE 1 MURAL

City of West Chicago's Banner Project Competition

The image of my painting of "Story Tellers" was selected for the West Chicago Banner Project.  The banners measure: 60” x 30” and are displayed in the historical downtown of West Chicago.

The competition was juried by Nate Larson. Larson earned his MFA from Ohio State University in 2002 and a BA with Distinction from Purdue University in 2000. He currently serves as a visiting professor at RIT and holds a tenured appointment at Elgin Community College, where he coordinates the Photography program in the Department of Art.

The exhibition runs from May 1 – September 1, 2009, a reception honoring the selected artists will take place during the annual Blooming Fest on May 16, 2009.
